SUMMARY
Following advice of my English teacher from 1989 I started to work as an independent translator first making writing translating from English into Russian of articles and literature on my speciality and starting from 1991 the other type of materials. These materials were mainly business contracts, letters, documents, brochures, tenders, computer instructions, technical and operational manuals, advertising materials, scientific articles, certificates. Since that time (1990) I usually translate from 5 up to 15 pages (1 page = 1800 symbols) per a day.
EDUCATION
Moscow Energetic Institute in 1983, speciality Radiotechnika - BS degree. Moscow Foreign Language Courses N1 1984-1986 - 3 years, 16 hours per a week, state Certificate. Two other conversational English Courses in 1988, 1989.
EXPERIENCE
I graduated from Moscow Energetic Institute in 1983 and started to work on my speciality in one of Moscow Research Institute and had been worked there up to 1990. I worked out special digital algorithms and corresponding digital processing chips. Soon after graduating from Energetic Institute I understood that I need the English language as a tool for getting new information concerning my speciality. That was the reason I started to study English thoroughly in Foreign Language Courses N1 (16 hours per a week in a small group). I had been studied on these courses during three years and graduated from these courses in 1986.
BASIC RATES
Translation: English-Russian - $10 per one page (approximately 3 cents per a word). Russian-English - $13 per one page (approximately 3.3 cents per a word). Proof-reading: English-Russian - $5 per one page (approximately 1.5 cents per a word). Russian-English - $6.5 per one page (approximately 1.65 cents per a word). One page is 1800 symbols as it is shown by WORD6 program in the Service-Statistics-Symbols item. Discounts: 50 pages - 10%; 100 pages - 15%. Standard rate translation: 7-8 pages per a working day. If higher rate translation per a day is required then above mentioned prices will increase proportionally. Working days: Monday - Friday, 10.00 - 18.00. Off days: Saturday, Sunday, Russian state holidays. Work on off-days is possible but it doubles the above mentioned rates.
